Day 6: Luca Bacchetti “Caribbean”
It’s been a dizzying rise for Bacchetti, who began as a radio DJ in his native Italy. Favoring everything from hip-hop and soul to drum & bass, it was his work with Alex Neri and Tenax Recordings that first put him on the map. His remix of Bini & Martini’s ‘Stop’ marked his first Beatport No 1, and the begin of his run as one of the top artists in the game. From then on, remixes and original work requests poured in giving Luca an international profile: he’s remixed and produced for the coolest labels around including Wagon Repair, Ovum, Tenax Recordings, Supernature, SCI+TEC, Minisketch, Safari Eletronique, Supernature, Saw Recordings, Viva Music, Tommy Boy and loads more, putting Him on the stand as one of the most succesfull dj/producer from italy in the world. His productions are now regularly played by Dj’s such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vaeth, Dubfire and Josh Wink. His partnership with Canada’s Wagon Repair crew has yielded an especially noteworthy series of successful original EPs, with the African flavored ‘Nights Over Kwazulu’ showing off a more musical side to his productions. As a DJ, Luca has journeyed throughout the world, rocking the best clubs and festivals. His dj sets can be heard from Berlin to New York to Sydney, Ibiza and Tokyo. (Source: segmento.blogspot.com)
In his own words:
“Fifteen years speak for themselves … Ovum is certainly one of the most durable, eclectic and original labels on the scene, anticipating many fads and styles; but never letting itself be boxed into a specific category … every time just following the creative spark, instinct, which is how in music new developments are born. Without a doubt, being forever in ‘searching’ mode is something we have in common, together with a passion for what we do. ‘Caribbean,’ taken from my first EP, is one of my least complex tracks on Ovum, made-up of few sounds, a light hearted sequence with aquatic textures … imagine the party of a lifetime, your friends, a long beach and the tropical seas …” – Luca Bacchetti
