Dear Friends and Music Lovers,
Ovum is excited to release its 15th anniversary album, Fifteen for Fifteen, this August 3. This digital comp album contains fifteen of our favorite tracks in Ovum history. You’ll be able to download all fifteen on Amazon and iTunes come August 3. Which tracks did we pick? Check back every afternoon as we uncover all fifteen, one by one.
Day 7: D’julz “Just So You Know”
“Just So You Know” (Bass Mix) by D’Julz is a perfect example of a song that works like a charm when played at 130BPMs. While not exactly considered as an up-beat specialty, this beauty is sure to get your blood boiling during switch-ups and while mixing multiple tracks at once. It has a soothing bass loop that kind of puts you in a zone and helps your mind wander off into its own euphoria. Calming. Deep. If played at a high volume with a good sound system and perfect timing, it will tear the roof off! Enjoy. (Source: feelingmnml.wordpress.com)
In his own words:
“’Just So You Know’ was my third release EP on Ovum and my most successful one so far. It’s the kind of track you do in one go thinking it’s gonna be a fun tool to play and don’t expect anything big from it—until it became that uncontrollable Godzilla that destroys everything in sight.
It’s been a real pleasure collaborating with Ovum for nine years now. More than a label, I see it as my American home.”
–D’julz
“Long time Ovum artist D’julz delivered this monster to us in early 2008. We released it in the beginning of the summer. What we got was a record heard at every festival and Ibiza all through the summer and into the fall.” – Matt
From the DJs and clubs…
“Just So You Know is a cool sexy electronic tune, not the stuff I normally play but it’s ok. Will spin it in a club environment.” -Harper
“My biggest track of the night. It’s a record that I use to transition between mid set and for when I want to kick things off. It’s energetic.” -John Digweed
“D’Julz delivers the goods on this one – feeling the Bline” -Hector Romero
“Nice package. Shall give it some rotation for sure” -Iain Taylor (Airtight/Tribal Session)
“Great track! Playing this everywhere – D’julz and Dylan is an awesome combination” -Jamie Anderson
“F*ckin’ HUGE!!!! No. 1 for me – Ovum go from strength to strength” -Jamie McHugh (Brique Rouge/Audio Theraphy/CR2)
“Absolute killer! can’t wait to play this in goa / madrid for some 6000 people in 3weeks. It sounds just that big. Full support! Oh, and I can imagine playing the 2000 and one remix, when i get tired of the original…” -Kiki (Bpitch Contol)
King Unique “I love this, 2000 and One mix, awesome”
“As an Old Ovum Artist I would say this is absolute Bomb track! Like the original and Julz dub as well.. but 2000 & One remix is Da Remix!“ -Meri (ROTD)
“I’m playing it as often as possible! It’ll definitely be spun on kcrw and at my Las Vegas gig this weekend! Thanks Josh” -Raul Campos
